How a mountain lion made a home in a Los Angeles neighbourhood

More than half of people around the world live in cities, and by 2050, according to estimates, 70 percent to live in urban areas. Thus, people had to learn how to share their space with this diverse group of animals.

But in 2012, the local wildlife biologist Miguel Ordenyan was surprised by the personnel recorded in one of the chambers that he installed in the Griffith Park. The sound of crispy leaves was followed by a tanning moving along the screen.

The latest resident of the park is Mountin -ev, shown in this video from the episode of “cities” The nature of things row General planet – A long way went to get there.

In order to get to the Griffith Park, a mountain lion or a pum called the P-22, dangerous highways and strongly populated areas of the city had to go through, which killed other large cats. As a result, the P-22 was inserted into the side by highways and surrounded by people in the smallest famous territory occupied by the mountain lion-17 square kilometers.

Being a night hunter, the night activity of the P-22, captured chambers and on home videos, consisted of devouring prey, performing a song consisting of Screechy Chirps and a leisurely walk in the neighborhood.

People around the world were so inspired by the “Hollywood cat” that about $ 50 million was donated to build the world's largest wildlife. The bridge will allow wildlife in the Santa Monica mountains and in the assortment of Sierra-Madra to safely cross the highway with 10 lanes on the outskirts of LA P-22, even at the festival of its name, the P-22 names in October.

However, after 10 years, Griffith peacefully coexisting in the park, wildlife experts should have made a difficult decision.
