TouchArcade is Shutting Down – TouchArcade

I knew that this post would appear for a long time, but it does not become easier to write from this. After more than 16 years, TouCharcade will close its doors and stop its activities. In the coming weeks, an additional post may appear here or there, since we are trying to fulfill all previously agreed obligations, and the proper farewell publication is also under development, but at the moment our usual everyday activity has been discontinued. The reason that we are closing is probably not amazing: money.

Many of you who followed TouCharcade for a long time know that we have been experiencing financial problems for many years, and, frankly, I think that this is a miracle, that we have been able to hold out for so long. The fact is that such a site as ours no longer earns money. To the detriment of ourselves, we resist such things as disgusting advertisements, e-crying clickbeat-zagolovs or ethically dubious sponsorship, which, unfortunately, are those things that are actually still bringing money on the Internet.

There are a number of other reasons that contributed to the fact that we reached this point, but I would not want to go into all this now. TouCharcade has been an institution for many millions of people over the past 16 years, and this was my permanent work over the past 14 years. A hard third of my life. In many ways, it looks like one of my children, and it is very difficult to say goodbye to him. I really prefer to focus on all those wonderful moments that we had than dwelling on things that we cannot change.

In addition, as a man with his wife and two young children, a mortgage and other funny adults, this is the end of my existence, and despite the fact that they are “freelancers” in the technical sense, which is true for the others who were beating With the heart TouCharcade, Sean Masgrave and Mikhail Madnani. And this leads me to the next point …

Please hire us!

The labor market is small, and it is difficult to find a new job, especially in the game industry. If you read this and you need very capable veterans of the gaming industry, such as we, contact us.

Jared Nelson – It's me! Obviously, I have more than 14 years of experience in TouCharcade in the midst of the paper of mobile games. Writing, editing, personnel management, trips at the conference. I did almost all this. I also had a rather diverse work experience before TouCharcade, including in leading positions, which, I think, gives me a really comprehensive set of skills. You can contact me by Linkedin or by e -mail Jared [at] Sensory arcade [dot] com.

Sean Masgrave – Sean has been working in TouCharcade for a little over 11 years, but in general in professional gaming media for more than 25 years. He is undoubtedly one of the most gifted writers that I have ever met, and if we needed a review for a large, important game and needed it in a very short time, you could always rely on Sean. He also uses his vast, almost supernatural knowledge in the history of video games to find interesting points of view and write about games that only he could find. Sean lives in Japan and speaks freely in Japanese and English, which makes him an excellent candidate to work on localization. Please contact him on the Muzkind website. [at] Hot mail [dot] com.

Mikhail Madnani – For more than 7 years, TouCharcade has been the “workhorse” of our staff. Publishing most of what you see every day, our site could not work for so long without the participation of Mikhail. An expert on the discovery of interesting news and their timely publication, as well as the collection of huge materials such as detailed interviews and reviews on several platforms. His images in the headings with coffee are also legendary. If you need someone who can reliably and consistently publish content related to video games, then I cannot not recommend Michael. Write Hello to him [at] Jonah [dot] com.

So what is happening now?

If all this is some kind of positive moment, it is that in the foreseeable future all the content that has ever been published on TouChaRCADE will remain on the network and will be available to everyone. More than 33,000 published articles, including more than 4,000 games of games, not to mention all our annual best materials and games of the year. We hope that they will all continue to live in the future for reference goals and just to look back and see how radically the landscape of mobile games has changed over the past and a half decades.

We also hope to continue our podcast. TouCharcade ShowWhich recently celebrated his 600th (!) Oase. There are a pair of co -hosts who came and left during the podcast (thanks to Brand and Mike!), But I and Eli Hodpp were constantly present at the show from the very beginning, and this is really madness. We both spent more than 13 years of our lives on the release of clockwork (almost) weekly.

In this regard, you may have a question about Our Patreon. Support from our Patreon undoubtedly made the greatest contribution to the existence of TouCharcade since we launched it in June 2015, almost ten years ago. We think that the contribution of Patreon will be aimed at maintaining the existence of the podcast and, possibly, at periodicals or special articles written here by employees. Perhaps a random “Switcharcade” or a review of a particularly loud launch of a mobile game. Maybe we could even squeeze into the “game of the year” this year? Now this is just a grain of idea, but it would be quite cool to see that TouCharcade will be able to live even to such a small extent.

TouchArcade is Shutting Down – TouchArcade

Be that as it may, I will clearly change the formulation of our Patreon, saying that we are no longer about supporting the website, and if people decide to stop making their contribution, this is completely clear. If people give us money monthly, I want to be absolutely transparent about what they are going to. In any case, wait for new news about this in the coming weeks and, at least, do not forget to follow the news as a free participant in Our Patreon To stay in the know. Also, if you have any questions or problems, please feel free to contact me in parts [at] Sensory arcade [dot] com or leave a comment below.

Well, I think that's all. I say on behalf of all of us who have contributed to the TouCharcade work over the past 16 years – from co -founders of Arnold Kim and Blake Patterson to the first full -time employee and future editor -in -chief Eli Hodpp and dozens of other writers and freelancers who helped to make TouChaRCADE, What he is-we just want to sincerely thank you for having ever read our site, listened to our podcast or attended one of our events. It was very pleasant to have such a wonderful audience that so highly appreciated what we did, and we will always be grateful during the time we could spend together.
